project: engagement photo shoot !

our engagement photos are in, and we couldn't be happier about how they turned out. they are exactly what we wanted. jordana is amazing. seriously, spectacular!

please note that i am laughing in almost every single photo. i could not keep a straight face throughout the entire shoot. even if it appears that i am smiling, i'm not. this is mid-laugh.

go see jordana's very nice blog about us with all of the pictures posted. and see our favorites below! enough words:

we had our photo shoot on valentines day, which happened to be the only sunny, beautiful day all week. we definitely lucked out, the rain in the days before made everything lush and green (and wet and slippery on our hike, but it was worth it). we wanted to be somewhere woodsy (and jordana knew just the right spot) and somewhere a bit unusual and unique. the cemetery turned out to be perfect. and we saw two furry graveyard cats! my favorite.

we will be using one of these photos for our save the date cards. not sure which, but that is my project for tomorrow. we want to get them in the mail by the end of february. i am armed with a gocco, a corner cutter, and many different colors of cardstock. i know it's gonna happen, someday.

project preview: engagement photos !

los angeles has been wet for weeks. it has been rain, thunderstorms, hail, and more rain.

we scheduled our engagement photo shoot with jordana a month ago, and i was anxiously checking weather.com as the day came closer and closer. it rained the entire week before, and it's raining now, but february 14th was a gorgeous day! we had sun and warmth and all of the recent rain made everything so lush and green and perfect.

we had so much fun on the shoot but i was incredibly, ridiculously nervous. i could not stop giggling! my face hurt at the end of the afternoon from smiling and laughing so much.

our photographer is in vegas for a photo convention, so we will have to wait a bit for the pictures, but she was kind enough to get one up for us extra early..

please go check it out!
(our photo is the color shot in the middle of the blog, not the b/w photo banner on top!)

i will have a full post on the engagement photos when we get them in.. cheers!

(early) project: paperstuff

i am officially calling anything that will be printed-on, written-upon, folded-up, cut-up or stamped-on "paperstuff."

a dear friend (and former employer, and mother of my adorable ring bearer) is going to help design these things for us. this is a great, great relief to me, since i am absolutely horrible at design. i can come up with the ideas, have a picture in my head of what i would like, but no idea how to put it onto paper (or a computer program).

our gocco arrived yesterday. i went back and forth on buying one for a few weeks, since they are no longer making supplies for printing. i finally found a great deal on ebay and went for it. i am excited to practice with the screen printer, but i don't want to waste my precious screens and flashbulbs.

our first project will be save the date cards and magnets. we might go the postcard route, we might do a simple card with the magnet inside. my gocco deal came with 100 recycled brown cards and envelopes, and i would love to be able to use them for something!

project update: wearables !

planning our wedding has been bizarre.

once we told people we were getting married, the questions started rolling in. when? where? what are your COLORS?! what does your dress look like?!?!? all of these questions lead me into a panic, and we are only a month into planning (yet less than eight months away). my mind is a roller coaster of ideas. none of those ideas are color-related. very few of those ideas are dress-related. i am thinking about food, music, decor, food, vows, food and.. cake (food..).

when i saw a simple dress i thought looked nice, i bookmarked it. a few days later i went back to analyze and realized it was a j.crew dress. never being a j.crew type of person, i was a bit surprised, but i still went back a few times to look at their dresses. on a particularly hard day, a long, long time ago (last monday) i was feeling sick/sad about wedding planning and decided to just buy the dresses (yes, two).

i regretted it a bit later, realizing i probably want something a tad more unique, a little bit more rock and roll, more me. finally decided (with a bit of help from g) to cancel the order. i was actually lucky that the dresses were on back order in my size and color. they wouldn't have shipped for a while anyway.

the dress that did arrive yesterday, and that i do love, is the free people dress. once i figure out how to work the new fancy-camera-early-birthday-gift, i will perhaps post some pictures.

the shirt i ordered for b (for the engagement photo shoot) from penelope's is permanently out of stock, so they let me cancel the order. i googled around and the shirt happens to be out of stock everywhere, except in a not-as-awesome gray checked pattern. instead we bought these:

one of them will be our winner. i can feel it.

in short: still trying to put all of my ideas together. still trying to figure out the style/feeling/colors/theme junk. still not a j.crew girl. still focusing on what i can have fun with: engagement pictures with our lovely and talented photographer in exactly three weeks!
